Trash Collection

Trash will be collected once a week.

To help protect our employees, we strongly encourage that ALL HOUSEHOLD TRASH BE PLACED IN BAGS inside the CWD-provided grey 95-gallon trash cart.

Place all trash items out no later than 7:00 am for pickup between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on your service day. Please ensure the trash cart and the recycle cart are separated by at least three feet, and at least three feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters, and drainage ditches. Please ensure there is a 16-foot clearance above your cart. Trash outside the cart will not be serviced. Overloaded carts or carts blocked by cars will not be serviced.

Position the trash cart with the wheels toward the residence.

95-gallon carts shall not be stored curbside. Carts shall be returned within 24 hours after scheduled pickup to a sight line within or adjoining the residence, or inside a storage area which is located behind the front building line of your residence.

Recycling Services

Recycling will be picked up weekly on your regular service day.

All recyclables must be placed inside the blue 95-gallon recycle cart.

Recycling Guidelines

Bulky Waste

Bulk refuse items are items that do not fit in your cart; however, hazardous waste, construction material and remodeling debris will not be collected. Tree limbs need to be 4 feet by 2 feet bundled and tied. You are limited to six (6) cubic yards of bulky waste per collection. Tied and bundled brush may be set out in unlimited quantities.

Important! CWD does not provide standard pickup for commercial demolition, construction, nor remodeling debris. Household debris must be containerized to be eligible for pickup. The box or other disposable container must be no larger than 2′ x 2′ x 4′ and weigh no more than 50 pounds.

Bulk trash will serviced twice a month on your regularly-scheduled trash/recycling day of your designated bulk weeks. Pickups occur on a YELLOW (first and third week) and BLUE (second and fourth week) schedule. All items must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your designated Brush and Bulky Waste service days, for collection by 7:00 p.m.

  • Kitchen Appliances
  • Washing Machines and Dryers
  • Toys tagged as “Bulk Item”
  • Yard Tools Tagged as “Bulk Item”
  • Bundled Carpet in 4-Foot Lengths
  • Water Heaters (drained)
  • Furniture Fence Panels Not Bigger than 4 feet X 6 feet
  • Bagged Leaves
  • Refrigerators/Freezers (must be tagged certifying removal of refrigerant)

Bulk Items – Prohibited

  • Single Items Weighing More than 150 lbs.
  • Commercial Construction and Remodeling Debris (Please call CWD for an estimate.)
  • Household Hazardous Waste (paint, motor oil, pool chemicals, etc.).
  • Tires, Batteries, and Propane Tanks
  • Miscellaneous Automotive Parts
  • Loose Debris (Debris must be placed in a box or other container no larger than 2′ x 2′ x 4′ and weigh no more than 50 pounds.)

Courtesy Drop-off Site for Bulk Trash and Brush located at 1690 E Eldorado Parkway

The Town provides a courtesy drop-off site for its residents for the disposal of bulk trash and brush. The site is located at 1690 E Eldorado Parkway. Residents must provide a copy of their water utility bill and photo identification in order to access the courtesy drop-off site.

Current Hours of Operation:
Friday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sunday 8:00 am Until Full or 5:00 pm


Semi-annual “Clean and Green” Days at the Courtesy Drop-off Site

In the spring and fall of each year, the Town conducts a Town-wide clean-up event that allows Little Elm residents to purge their homes, garages and property of large debris items, brush and tree limbs and household hazardous waste. Recycling opportunities are made available for electronic equipment, batteries, tires and metal. Large volume paper shredding is also provided.

Q     How do I get my trash cart replaced if it is damaged or has normal wear and tear? Does it cost anything?
A     Please call CWD at 972.392.9300, Option 2. There is no cost for a replacement unless the damage was caused by fire.

Q     How do I get a special pickup for extra items or non-compliant items?
A     Call CWD Customer Service at 972.392.9300, and request an estimate for a special pickup. Estimates are free.

Q     Is it possible to get an extra trash and/or recycle cart? What do they cost?
A     The Town of Little Elm takes orders for extra containers and can provide the cost for them. They will then contact CWD for delivery of these containers. Please call 972.294.1821.
