Trash Collection

Trash will be collected once a week. Please refer to the Service Schedule tab to determine your specific pickup day.

To help protect our employees, we strongly encourage that ALL HOUSEHOLD TRASH BE PLACED IN BAGS inside the CWD-provided grey 95-gallon trash cart.

Place all trash items out no later than 7:00 a.m. for pickup between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on your service day. Please ensure the trash receptacles and the recycle cart are separated by at least three feet, and are at least three feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters, and drainage ditches. Position the carts with the handles toward the residence, with the lids fully closed. Trash placed outside of the cart will not be serviced.

Recycling Services

Recycling will be picked up weekly. Please see the Service Schedule tab for collection map to determine the pickup day in your area.

All recyclables must be placed in bags inside the blue 95-gallon recycle cart.

Place all recyclable items out no later than 7:00 a.m. for pickup between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on your service day. Please ensure the recycle cart and trash cart are separated by at least three feet, and at least three feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters, and drainage ditches. Please ensure there is a 16-foot clearance above your cart. Position the recycle cart with the wheels toward the residence, with the lid fully closed.

Recycling Guidelines

Bulk & Brush Collection

Bulky waste and brush are collected once a month, on a Saturday, according to this schedule:

NO CALL IS REQUIRED!

You are limited to four cubic yards of bulky waste and/or loose brush per collection. No single item should exceed 150 pounds.

Important! CWD does not provide pickup for commercial demolition, construction, nor remodeling debris. Household debris must be containerized to be eligible for pickup. The box or other disposable container must be no larger than 2′ x 2′ x 4′ and weigh no more than 50 pounds.

Place all bulk and brush at your front curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on your designated bulk and brush service day.

Brush

Tree limbs must be placed with trunks parallel to the street without obstructing the sidewalk. Individual items or bundles must weigh less than 50 pounds, and be no longer than 10 feet.

TIED & BUNDLED BRUSH may be set out in unlimited quantities.

Bulk Items – Acceptable

  • Toys and Yard Tools Tagged as “Bulk Item”
  • Furniture
  • Bundled Carpet in 4-foot Lengths
  • Fence Panels No Larger than 4′ x 6′
  • Washing Machines, Dryers, Water Heaters and Kitchen Appliances
  • Refrigerators/Freezers (Must be tagged certifying removal of refrigerants)

Bulk Items – Prohibited

  • Single Items Weighing More than 150 lbs.
  • Commercial Construction and Remodeling Debris
  • Household Hazardous Waste
  • Tires, Batteries, and Propane Tanks
  • Loose Debris (Debris must be placed in a box or other container no larger than 2′ x 2′ x 4′ and weigh no more than 50 pounds.)

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Used Electronics may be disposed of at Clean Up Green Up Events.

Saturday Bulk & Brush Drop-off and Other Disposal Options

Community Waste Disposal and the City of Wylie offer Bulk & Brush Drop-off on Saturday mornings. Load up and come on out to the City of Wylie Public Works at 949 Hensley. Items may be dropped off between 8:00 am and noon. Be sure to bring proof of residency in the form of a valid driver’s license or a current City of Wylie utility bill.

X-treme Green Events

CWD will host two X-treme Green Events per year in the City of Wylie.

An X-treme Green Event is a one-stop place to dispose of household hazardous waste, automotive tires, used electronics and household metal goods. Confidential document shredding is also available on site.
